Welcome to my family tree project!
Like many genealogy projects I think this one may never end. It is really just a continuation of my Mom’s project which was a continuation of her mother’s project and who know’s how many before. These days I think it is a lot easier though, and I was able to corroborate everything with census records that are now online and greatly extend what we know. I’ve discovered several new branches and hundreds of distant relatives that we never knew about. There are more than 7000 names in this tree with some of them born as early as the 1400’s.
My goal with this web site is to make the information available to everyone in a format that allows collaboration and easy updates. Anyone can point out errors or suggest changes, but if you want to get directly involved, I can give you a login that allows you to make changes or additions directly. Any volunteers?
You would think that out of 7000+ names there would be someone famous, but disappointingly, I have yet to find anyone. The closest we’ve come (if you are a Kerr) is a possible relation to John Adams, our second President. Some researchers think that Lucretia Adams was his Sister. Of course, that would also make her the Aunt of John Quincy Adams. More research is needed to sort this out.
To get a feel for the family names that appear here the most, just browse over the names below. Since I’m a Valentine, that’s where I started. But other focus names for me have been Rasmussen, Kerr, Dalton, Guthrie, Rinker, Baird, Koefoed, and Patterson just to name a few. The names that show up in larger font are the ones with the most individuals. You can click on the name to get to a list of them and then pick one to see their details. Each person has their own page with links to their parents and children. You can see charts of a person’s ancestors or their decedents. And then view that chart several different ways. There are tons of features so please explore. You can’t break it. Don’t hesitate to use the “Suggest” button on an ancestor’s page to let me know if you see something that isn’t right.
Most of my efforts so far have been to document all the relations, birth dates, marriage dates, etc. My next step is to start adding biographical information and more photos. I have many photos of people that need to be identified that I plan to post for everyone to see. Maybe someone will be able to help. So stay tuned!
